Two Black-legged meadow katydids aka Orchelimum nigripes. These guys have been hanging out in my milkweed plants lately. The individual on the right (male) was stridulating and lucky him, it looks like he managed to attract a female seen left.
I really love the color of these guys. Photos never seem to do justice but the blue-green of the wings, yellow-green of the body, pink-red of the head and yellow and black of the legs give this insect a rainbow effect
