Wild grapes

Found some wild grapes growing next to the road after a bike trip to the hardware store this weekend (I also found a 5/16 hex driver rolling around on the ground!)

Grapes are the official flavor of late summer and even though these wild varieties are smaller and more sour than domestic grapes they still pack a strong grape aroma and flavor which makes them a perfect snack for a Saturday afternoon in august. After running another errand I checked another roadside meadow for some black eyed Susans that have now gone to seed. I plucked a few seed heads for my garden. Hope they grow next year!
